Phillip Burnett
Phillip Burnett, our fearless leader, is the owner and Managing Partner of Burnett Law. He was born and raised in Tennessee and has been licensed for over 26 years practicing in the communities of Crossville, Cookeville, and McMinnville.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services in 1996 and then his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
While at the University of Tennessee College of Law, Mr. Burnett volunteered his time to represent unemployment compensation claimants, showing his devotion to helping others.
Since graduating Mr. Burnett has practiced personal injury litigation involving car accident litigation, social security disability, labor law, and other general civil litigation for over 25 years in Crossville and Cookeville, Tennessee. Mr. Burnett has a true passion for helping others.
For example, one of the many ways Mr. Burnett gives back is volunteering as part of the Executive Committee of the Disability Section of the Tennessee Bar Association where he works with the Executive Committee to help provide continuing education for other attorneys regarding their social security disability practices and promotes legislation that will benefit the social security disability practice in Tennessee.
Additionally, Mr. Burnett serves as a Board Member to the United Fund of Cumberland County in which support is volunteered to help nourish the hungry, assist those confronting emergencies and disasters, those with brain conditions, survivors of adult and child domestic violence and sexual assault, and low-income families, the elderly and Cumberland County’s kids and youth.
Mr. Burnett is a goal driven attorney who loves to help people and truly stands as a testament to the experience and dedication to the clients of Burnett Law.
Jeffrey Vires
Jeffrey Vires is a Partner at Burnett Law. Born and raised in Tennessee, Mr. Vires is also a goal driven attorney who loves to help people. Mr. Vires has been licensed for over 31 years. Mr. Vires began practicing law in Crossville after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
Mr. Vires specializes and has well-founded knowledge on the following legal areas: Criminal Defense, DUI, Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support, Wills & Estates, Personal Injury, VA Disability, and Adoption.
Before bringing his expertise to Burnett Law, Mr. Vires was the Managing Litigation Attorney of a regional labor law center, representing the Air Force in labor-management relations, EEO, and civilian personnel law cases. Mr. Vires defended the Air Force in litigation affecting crucial civilian personnel policies and acted as the Policy Advisor for private security contractors Iraq. He also served as the Staff Judge Advocate Managing Attorney, providing legal services for a variety of criminal/civil matters. Here he worked on complex international legal issues and helped countless deserving men and women.
Attorney Vires then went on to serve as the Deputy Chief of the General Law Division in the United States Air Force Advises ARPC Commander, over the ARPC staff agencies, and the commanders of the Air Force-wide on military justice and administrative actions involving reservists.
Mr. Vires was selected as the 2003 HQ ARPC Staff Officer of the Year. Then, as Chief, Appellate Defense Counsel of the United States Air Force he provided management and represented appellants before the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
